Celebrating and honoring the Earth & Web of life

A place for all who honor the earth as kin and wish to share experiences and knowledge of living with nature

Wisdom of Our Ancestors

"Humankind has not woven the web of life. But we are one thread within it. Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves. All things are bound together, all things connect" - Seattle, Squamish Chief

Sacred Earth.Global Village Mission Statement

There was once a time when there was no distinction between 'tame' and 'wild' and human culture took form directly from relationship with the environment in which it evolved. In our time, our culture has often lost the original meaning inspired directly on interaction and appreciation of the earth. It is said that 'you can never stand in the same river twice', however, Sacred Earth.Global Village promotes seeking a fresh view and going back to 'Turtle Island', as Iroquois culture calls it, and restore our original connection with nature. We seek to restore ourselves and our culture by entering a direct relationship with nature to relearn the ‘original instructions’ that are our natural heritage. With the advances in our understanding of life, natural history, science, filtered through reconnection with the earth, we can become more of what it means to be a human being living as part of the web of life.

We wish for these explorations to inspire positive growth in new directions for members, and that friendships and collaborations are forged.

CREATING YOUR MEMBER PAGE

All members of Sacred Earth.Global Village have an opportunity to create a space, and set up 'camp', for themselves with an individual member page to post photos, blogs, receive comments and join group discussions. Members are encouraged to take the time to visit each other's camps.

This group is moderated to oversee the integrity of our experience here together. Members in good standing* are encouraged to become more active with the following:

Suggesting:

- Subjects for a Group that you would enjoy leading.

- Categories for discussion in the Forum which you would like to start. All members are welcome to create discussion 'topics' in Forum categories already created.

- Presentations you would like to have in the Theater/Gallery Lodge

You have the opportunity to create a unique appearance for your member page by selecting from 'theme' options . In the interest of simplicity, please limit your photos to ten per person. Consider rotating what you present here. We appreciate if you refrain from mounting videos or background photos on your member pages due to some members having dial-up internet service and being unable to open large files. However, the Theater/Gallery Lodge is available for special presentations of videos and other features of interest to members.

* Members in good standing are active members who have posted blogs, or contributed to existing groups & discussions.

Thank you for honoring these guidelines.

*****************************************
Greetings all,

I am here to share, develop my awareness and learn along with everyone and am honored to be leading this journey. I will do all that I can to support that it be a good one for you. If I make errors, it is not my intention. If you have input or would like other assistance, please send me an e-mail in my mailbox, here, and I will do what I can to honor your requests and comments.

Thank you for being here.

Days 18, March 22

An orvercast day, at 4 PM the clouds in a u-shape with their bottom pointing west. A storm is coming in. spent time down on the boulder strewn beach. A small rivulet of water coming from the hillside across the road, making it's way to the sea. The tide going out. Loons scattered on the water, each diving for fish in their own area. None calling. The surface of the water has some agitation, but there's not much wind. Barely a breeze felt.… Continue

Day 17, Sun. March 21st

While outside on the E side of the house, I heard a few redwing blackbirds in the two tall spruce on the N side of the yard. A little while later, after having gone inside, there was a loud chorus of redwing blackbirds in the trees and I could see some of the birds flitting about within the green boughs. Across the road, and close by, were more redwing blackbirds in the leafless deciduous trees. A solo bird occupied each tree closest… Continue

Days 12-16, March 16th-20th

This year I have been intensely engaged in actvities relating to setting up business affairs. So while I notice some things that are going on in nature each day, I am not able to follow my routine of a daily outing to a specific area. I have been to the same area along the shoreline many of the days, though.

And here it is spring...Happy Spring to you all.

Day 8, Fri. March 12th

Early am The sound of morning dove outside my window. Bird calls are so welcome and make life have more richness. Had been noticing them for the first time the other day. It sounded like they were getting busy.

Day 7

downeast, Maine

Day 7, Thurs. March 11

On the brief walk to the market, just before closing time, I walked along the sandy private road to the main street. It seemed I was hearing rushing water in some tall grasses across the road. I'm not aware of water flowing there. So, it's something I'll have to check out. I have to pick my way along the road, so as not to walk into a hole filled with mud or ice. The roads become pitted very easily around here. The tarmac on main… Continue

Day 6

Day 6, Weds. March 10 downeast, Maine

6:30 am Went outside and did my Challenge journey. I'm in the middle of town, here, but nature is present and there's a pond that beavers had built across the road. The homeowner beside the creek that leads from the pond out to the harbor, and a housing development above the pond were having problem with flooding in their basements. They had the beavers 'removed'. Not the first, or the last time, that I'll hear of this. It breaks my heart. I… Continue

Days 4 & 5

Away from downeast, Maine

Day 4, Mon. March 8th 2010

Had to travel to central Maine which was a three hour trip each way. It's only 115 miles in each direction, but we only have secondary roads for the first 40 miles. I live on a peninsula that juts out from the coast and the expression 'You can't get there from here' was probably invented somewhere in this area. On my way heading out I noticed that the large cove on the east side of the peninsula still looked iced over… Continue

Day 2, March 10th

SaltyAs I was walking towards the sea I saw one cat with three legs passing the road slowly. One car driver waited for her a bit. Safe and from the other side she turned her head and gave me a look. Cars, cars, cars, and then…One forgotten bay was my destination. The weather was cloudy and windy, but my feelings were pretty fine. I noticed a small lake by the waters of the sea with two ducks in it. I had nothing with me except one pencil and my little notebook.I lost myself for a minute or I…See More

Days 3, 4 & 5

Day 3. I had to go and make a cup of tisane just now, searching all the while for a lost Sunday. Oranges, peaches and cinnamon, steaming, fail to refresh my memory.I know that it was raining. I know that the rain kept me close to home : I own one pair of shoes and they leak - come winter its like wearing colanders in a bathtub filled with ice water.....The day is drifting back with that rain-in-my-shoes sense. A very short journey... and one I tend to under-value. We have potted garden on our…See More
